Online programme of Mebel 2020 opened with RusMebel 2020

The programme of online events of Mebel 2020 was opened with the RusMebel Forum 2020. It was organised by the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia with support of EXPOCENTRE AO.  

The forum included a panel devoted to the development of the furniture industry.

Representatives of the Association, state bodies and furniture business discussed the situation in the furniture industry during the crisis, talked about instruments of government state support, problems of import substitution, and competition from unfair manufacturers.

Opening the panel, General Director of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia Timur Irtuganov talked about the importance of this event as an opportunity to address to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, discuss what problems the industry is facing today, and which of them can be solved with the help of the ministry. Mr. Irtuganov said that the industry has avoided the worst scenario. Furniture production has survived and even increased in some respects, in particular, in terms of exports. And the growth is significant. It is up to 39 percent for 8 months of this year.

State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov reminded that the furniture industry was included in the list of systemic enterprises, and the government provides assistance to it during the pandemic.

The main topic of a report made by President of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia Aleksandr Shestakov was Furnished Apartments. He said that today all departments agreed with the expediency of commissioning furnished housing. It remains to decide how to implement it.

Business representatives raised specific questions to the deputy minister and jointly found the needed solutions.

The panel generated a great interest among the professional audience. More than 250 people watched the broadcast.
