Dealer’s Day for furniture manufacturers

22 / 11 / 2022

Today is Dealer’s Day. It is organised by the FCProject communications agency and EXPOCENTRE AO as part of the four-day Furniture Retail Fest 2022, one of the major events in the conference programme of the Mebel 2022 International Exhibition.

Dealer’s Day is dedicated to franchising, new formats and business models. It opened with a panel discussion entitled Supplier vs Dealer: Red Lines. Valeria Zelinskaya, co-founder of FCProject, acted as moderator.

The discussion was attended by experts from leading supplier companies - Svetlana Obraztsova (Ascona), Maria Mamysh (Era), Liliya Kats (Maria), Mikhail Tuzhilin (Ormatek), Sergey Igudin (Apriori) and others, as well as furniture market dealers and experts.

As co-founder of the Peretz Consulting retail agency Natalia Peretz noted when talking about the struggle for customers in the furniture market, "today, traditional retail has not yet used all the resources that can help to raise sales". According to her, 90% of companies in Russian retail do not know how, do not want and do not know how to manage the assortment and merchandising. And it is these two components alone that generate 40% of the increase in sales.

Later there were case study sessions as well as a discussion ‘When IKEA left?’ on the fundamental restructuring of the Russian furniture market. Speakers - market leaders, online retailers and IKEA suppliers - discussed the pros and cons of such a global player leaving the Russian market, and also speculated on whether the Russian furniture business has the potential to launch a ‘new IKEA’.

The Dealer’s Day events attracted the attention of a wide professional audience. Furniture manufacturers, franchise project managers and regional retail dealers who came to attend were introduced to successful business models, formats, methods of increasing margins, implementation of CRM systems, methods of raising finance for development.

Furniture Retail Fest runs until November 24. FRF conference programme
